Kaksteist kuud tagasi korraldati Krimmis nn referendum Venemaaga ühinemise küsimuses, mille tulemuste selgumise järel – ligi 97 protsenti Krimmi elanikest hääletas n-ö ametlike tulemuste järgi poolt – oli Venemaa president Vladimir Putin sunnitud vastu võtma otsuse, et rahva soov on seadus.
